In 1954, Frank Pierri, a young man from Chicago, came to the Fox Valley for a wedding. He greatly enjoyed the region and decided to move here, but found that there was one major issue: there were no good pizza parlors.
In 1955, with the help of his friend from Chicago, Pat Earle, he opened the first Frank & Pat’s Pizza. The business ran successfully for many years until the two got into a dispute and decided to break up the business. Pat Earle took over the Neenah location of Frank & Pat’s. In the next few years, he renovated the building and added a major addition. The business once again ran very successfully for many years, and grew to become an integral part of the community.
Then, in 1993, the ownership was passed down to Pat’s son, David Earle, who owns the business to this day. In this time, the name was also changed to Cranky Pat’s Pizza, finally recognizing that Frank Pierri had not owned the building for about 30 years. The following year, in 1994, the building was again renovated with the addition of a bar.
Since then, the building has been running very successfully with no major changes, and is now known to be one of the best, if not the best, pizzerias in Neenah. The business boasts many loyal customers who come there for the great pizza and entertainment.
